CedarPay sits between your application and Uganda's mobile money operators. It is CedarPay's own platform – merchant management, pricing, transaction processing and records are all run by CedarPay.

Transaction lifecycle

Every payment moves through explicit states: created → processing → pending → successful / failed / expired. A confirmed payment is never downgraded by a late or duplicate message, and corrections such as reversals are recorded as new, auditable events.

What CedarPay does for each payment

  1. Authenticates your request and checks its permissions
  2. Validates the amount, phone number and your transaction limits
  3. Checks the idempotency key so retries are safe
  4. Records the transaction before contacting the operator
  5. Sends the request to the correct operator
  6. Verifies the operator's callback and confirms the status
  7. Posts balanced ledger entries
  8. Sends you a signed webhook and keeps retrying until delivered
Launch status: the CedarPay sandbox is open to developers now. Live MTN MoMo and Airtel Money processing starts once operator onboarding and the applicable regulatory approvals are complete.
